dedicated to the proposition that truth is found in opposition, which isn’t to say that it’s simply contrarian. The great heresies of history questioned not just orthodoxy, but the common perception of what is real, and because questioning something as basic as that unsettled and upset people, heretics often wound up at the stake. I don’t want to burn, but I would like to start a few fires. In this time of great polarization, when we all seem to move to our separate segments of the great pie chart, convinced that only our orthodoxy is the right one, we may sometimes need to blow up the whole pie.
